Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik announced that the organization would develop a software for thumbprint verification on votes within two weeks, which would enhance NADRA’s capacity of thumbprint verification. Tariq Malik said that NADRA would be able to verify up to 500, 000 thumb prints per day with the software at the request of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
He informed that the caretaker government had been sent a summary regarding expenses needed for this exercise and that of thumb prints would cost Rs 10 to Rs. 15 per vote and the expense was most likely to land in the candidates’ pocket.
Political parties had claimed rigging of polls by using the same person to vote numerous times for a candidate for which they had demanded thumb prints to be verified against each voter.
