Aimed at acknowledging the need and importance of green energy options to power mobile industry and reducing energy costs and reducing environmental effects, a operating team will be co-organized by the GSMA and co-hosted by Telenor Pakistan in a local hotel here in Islamabad on 20 and 21 Aug.
The 2-day occasion eligible ‘Afghanistan & Pakistan Specific Green Power for Mobile Working Group’, will discuss; MNO’s projects on green telecom deployments, expected role of the government’s in promoting green telecoms, new technology advancements along with examining its implementation issues, long term eco-system development and exploring business innovation for the Pakistani market.
The occasion will also evaluate as to how Universal Service Fund (USF)can be used to promote green energy in non-urban places and recognize support places from the govt in terms of subsidies/grants to speed up energy security.
In a message Gyorgy Koller, Chief Technology Officer, Telenor Pakistan praised the initiative of organizing the working group at a time when the country is facing critical power situation. “Pakistan is under acute energy crises, and exploring alternate energy sources to power mobile networks is of paramount importance for the entire cellular industry – which is also in line with the vision of the government of Pakistan with regards to sustainable energy development. We are delighted to co-host this event which is poised to identify implementation challenges around sustainable energy and subsequently identify cost effective and environment friendly renewable energy options for Pakistan & Afghanistan,” he remarked.
The working group will feature Gyorgy Koller, CTO, Telenor Pakistan and Mudasar Hussain Mian, Director Infrastructure Deployment, Telenor Pakistan among other speakers.
