Gwadar island spewing methane gas

jammas.hussain20130924235333710 The recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake which struck south west Pakistan on Tuesday an island which has been known as ‘Zalzala Jazeera’ had appeared of the Gwadar coastline.

Professionals from the National Institute of Oceanography are analyzing the island and say that it is spewing methane gas which can be seen at various points and there is a visible presence of marine life on the island.

 

 

“Our team found bubbles rising from the surface of the island which caught fire when a match was lit and we forbade our team to start any flame. It is methane gas,”

Mohammad Danish, a marine biologist from Pakistan’s National Institute of Oceanography told us.
