NASA Releases Images of Pakistan’s ‘Mud Island’ Formed By Earthquake

In Pakistan on 24th September, 2013, A 7.8 magnitude earthquake stucked in Balochistan province of Pakistan. That earthquake killed more than 350 people and almost destroyed all homes in Dalbadi village.

The earthquake produced a new mud Island off the coast of Padi Zir (West Bay) in near Gwadar, Pakistan.

On 26th sep, thursday NASA released an image of the new formed Island.

“The water depth around the new island is roughly 15 to 20 meters,” geologist of marine Asif Inam from Pakistan’s National Institute of Oceanography told NASA. “The floor in that area is generally flat, but the gradient in this area changes quite abruptly.”

According to NASA Institute, the surface of island is a mixture of fine sand, mud and the solid rocks.
