“The Big Three”

56218The “Big Three” row including India,Australia and England poses, perhaps, the biggest threat to the game since the controversial saga in 1970 which saw South Africa being banned from playing international cricket for 21 years. The three nations, ranked among the richest in world cricket, have raised a storm by announcing their plans to effectively seize control of the game which would also entail restructuring the governing body, the International Cricket council.A draft proposal of the plan, being tabled at the ICC meeting in Dubai this week, needs seven votes from the 10 leading cricket-playing nations to become final. Going by reports received so far, it appears that while Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are more or less determined to oppose the plan, nations like New Zealand and the West Indies are eager to please the “Big Three”.

According to me this is preplanned game headed by India to sideline Pakistan from cricket because we have much more star players than India and because “cricket unites us”.Many former cricketers and ex-captains are apposing it but there are few those are in the favor of the “Big Three”. According to  a former cricketer namely Ramiz Raja seems to be in the favor of the three boards assuming that we should vote BCCI and should accept their proposals because it will benefit us but my question is “Are we playing cricket for money?” and “where is our so called Pride?” .Bishen Singh Bedi a former Indian player opposing this proposal said that Ramiz is supporting this because he wants to come India to make money or to appear in the IPl,thats what Rameez Raja deserves because sadly I have to say that he had sold his nationality to the Indians for some dollars only. Pakistan’s response has been rather cautious to date although Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Zaka Ashraf, prior to his departure for the ICC meeting, reiterated that he would vote for whatever was in Pakistan’s best interest now the question is that “what is our interest?”.Zaka Ashraf is a business man by profession hope hat he will not sell our pride for dollars.

According to BBC:

The International Cricket Council (ICC) says proposals for a structural overhaul that would benefit the “Big Three” received unanimous backing. However, representatives of Pakistan and South Africa reject that claim. They insist nothing has yet been approved and say a final decision will be made on 8 February. Plans to give more power to England, India and Australia were leaked last week and strongly opposed by the boards of South Africa and Pakistan, as well as the international players’ union (Fica).

India want cricket to be more socialized to make money, the plan of IPL was a successful one but this proposal would be resisted strongly by cricket board of South Africa and Pakistan cricket board, the main point that is threatening me is that if “The Big Three” convinces South Africa than their open target would be to relegate Pakistan’s test status which will surely damage our cricket. This proposal reminds me off the 90’s when Australia and England had the veto power and they tried to rule the cricket. At that time India along with Pakistan resisted them but now the Indians are doing the same mistake. The threat the three boards have been giving is that they would separate themselves from ICC and would not play with other countries. My point is that if India,Australia and England separate themselves from the indexICC they would play bilateral series between themselves only and people would be bored to see the same teams competing again and again which would hurt their revenue a lot and the sponsors would force them to join ICC again and on their refusal the sponsors would start sponsoring the ICC and this would hurt “Big Three” not only economically but also mentally.

In the end i would just sum up my blog until the next meeting of ICC hoping that this proposal would be opposed and resisted by all boards and it will be a history.
