Pakistan IT man created a great Islamic invention

Mr.Zahid Hussain, a talented young man who appeared for the first time in the daily program “Aaj Kamran Khan Kay Sath” in 2011 due to his outstanding work of developing the first Qur’an software which had salient features of categorical searching from the Qur’an. You just type in your word and the software displayed the ayat which had that word. The supported language search was in English & even Urdu. His first blog was ‘honestzahid.blog.com‘.

Mr.Zahid Hussain by profession is a Software Engineer and owns an IT Company which produces software for HR and Supply chain management yet he even teaches Chartered Accountants.

In response to a question what background he has? The answer was, “I used to sell bananas and setup stalls and continued my education with the tiring job“. Initially when he started this work he even didn’t have enough money to buy an Apple Computer to develop the same software for its operating system.

Today his brilliant hard work has gone beyond our thoughts and he has developed applications for Android to Microsoft mobile and even for iPhones. His application “ISLAM360” is available for free in all playstores for your daily gadgets. It is a once download thing and you don’t need the WiFi again to use the application. The application developed by this admiring tech guy has has mainly four sections:

1. Qur’an Majeed
2. Ahadith
3.  Selected Prayers (i.e Du’as)
4.  Ibadah Section

The Qur’anic section has a lot to explore from searching very precicely from ‘Parah’ and even ‘Surah’. The selective searching can be done in English, Urdu and even roman Urdu (i.e the text typing language used by the youngsters today).  It even has 13 reciters for you to listen the Qur’an, having all of one’s favourite Qari'(reciter). One may listen to each ayat individually by selecting the ayat followed by listening to its translation in English & Urdu.

The Ahadith section has all six books of Kitub Al-Sittah comprised of about 65 volumes containing about 29K Ahadith. Never was this done by anyone which has been done by Mr.Zahid, even the Ahadith section has selective searching facility. You just type in the word “Namaz” and all of the ahadith containing the word will be displayed. The ahadith can even be listened translated in English & Urdu. Isn’t that commendable?

All scholars’ of different sectors have approved his work and given him the copyright certificates added in the application for the users to  see and verify. Namely Mufti Taqi Usman & well known scholar Dr.Zakir Naik have also appreciated his work. The application has been developed with assistance of Google and Microsoft. The application has been downloaded by about 1.4million people including people from Israel even.

Mr.Zahid Hussain currently is working on developing a Qur’anic search engine which will be available in 104 languages soon but up till now he has succeeded in developing it for 19 languages. In addition he is also working on developing to make another application, ‘Al-Muallim’ which will be listening to the users recitation of the Qur’an and if the user recites it wrong the assistant application will correct the reciter by playing the right way to recite the verse and even voice searching will be available in it; you just say the word and the ayah containing the word will be displayed. The application will be of special service to the unlettered.

I was fortune enough to have a conversation with him, I asked him what message would you like to give to your admirer and the youth of Pakistan?

He answered:

“Keep connected with Qur’an and Hadees if you want to rule on this world”.

Much is being done by sons of the nation, all we need to do is applaud them and help them wherever they need us. Mr.Zahid Hussain is a true inspiration for all youngsters of today specially those pursuing their higher education in Software Engineering and Computer Science. Instead of portraying and looking at the negative side of Pakistan one should reflect the prospering side of the motherland. The vigils are lightened up, all you need to do is flare them up and making Pakistan shine as Quaid-e-Azam wanted it:

“Without education it is complete darkness and with education it is light. Education is a matter of life and death to our nation. The world is moving so fast that if you do not educate yourselves you will be not only completely left behind, but will be finished up. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) had enjoined his followers to go even to China in the pursuit of knowledge. If that was the commandment in those days when communications were difficult, then, truly, Muslims as the true followers of the glorious heritage of Islam, should surely utilize all available opportunities. No sacrifice of time or personal comfort should be regarded too great for the advancement of the cause of education.”
