The appointment of all three members will complete the authority, whereby, one of the members can be hired as Chairman later by following the Telecom Act.
Cabinet division in Islamabad has given an time until 30th June for the candidates to implement for the posts. The department has also clarified that those who had applied through an previous advertisement of Feb 14, 2013 will need to implement again, if are still willing.

An upper age limit for all the candidates has been described as 56 years for the job that will proceed for four years , the contract interval. Two of the federal ministers Anusha Rahman and Ishaq Dar have been continuously suggesting that 3G licensing would be performed very soon. Appointment of members and completing the telecom authority is the first thing in this direction.

3G licensing is very crucial to the PML-N government as it has put nearly $ 1 billion income in the budget apart from recovering $ 800 million from Etisalat (PTCL).

After the appointment of member of PTA, it will take another few several weeks before government declares a 3G advertisement.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority is dysfunctional since several weeks as Member Technical and Member Finance finished their contract period in the months of Feb and March 2013 whereas, the Chairman of the authority, Farooq Awan was terminated by court due to illegal appointment.
Authority being dysfunctional, number of telecom relevant issues are lying awaiting which is affecting the development poorly.
