Unless you have been residing under a stone during the last few days, you have most-probably observed about the greatest sensation in Pakistani social media right now. No, it’s not about any new governmental debate (or anything relating to the word “gate” for that matter) but about “Eye to eye”, a new popular song by Taher Shah.
Shah, a almost unidentified guy just 3 days ago is now the most-talked about guy in Pakistan and is about to obtain the international popularity.
As of 27 June, it video of the song on tune.pk has already got more than 45 thousand strikes, defeating even the popular video of Imran Khan’s oath-taking speech at the National Assembly, which was uploaded over the week ago. The song is, actually, on vimeo for over 2 months but has only just experienced achievements.
Again, the “any kind of publicity is a publicity” technique works here. The tremendous achievements of this song can quickly be linked to the point that its regularly earning adverse advertising over the last few days, and consequently, being the top-trending topic in Pakistan. For evidence, just search #EyetoEye in twitter and there you will see it, people from all avenues of life cornering a helpless guy.
OK that might’ve been too much because Taher Shah has also got a bit of a conspiracy following of his own already. And oh yeah, meanwhile, you can “en-jaey” the Urdu version of the song too which is itself gaining quite a bit of attention lately. Its stunning to see, however, how social media can convert performance of a nobody within a few moments.
