Youtube opening Case: Committee formed to monitor 8 million URL

youtube_670YouTube was blocked by govt in Pakistan in Sept 2012 after a controversial and blasphemous movie Purity of Muslims was shown across the world. Government took the strategy that it would make every effort to remove a material from the YouTube web servers.

A solution to open the Youtube seems around in Pakistan as Minister of State for Information and Technology- Anush Rehman Khan has taken one step forward in this direction.

A four member panel has been established under the guidance of Member IT at at Ministry of IT Amir Malik who will look into various choices that could help opening the largest video sharing website in Pakistan.

The panel will review 8 million URLs for being sure that blasphemous material is no more available in Pakistan.

A ministry official was not available to comment on the mechanism of analyzing and filtering this large numbers of URLs but the attempt seems to be far from what is needed to cope with the situation.
