Imam-e-Kaaba, Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais will be an aspect of Polio campaign in Pakistan

Pakistan is one of three countries where poliomyelitis (polio) is still categorized as an endemic viral infection. Though a polio immunization campaign started in 1974, its eradication officially started only in 1993. About sixty rounds of vaccination were carried out in the country before 2007, and the infection persists. Polio cases in Pakistan rose by 37 percent in 2011. The World Health Organization reported the presence of the polio virus in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Peshawar, where the virus was found in the sewage systems. According to Heidi Larson, writing in The Guardian, polio eradication efforts were hampered when it was revealed that the US Central Intelligence Agency employed the services of a Pakistani doctor Shakil Afridi and local health officials who used a vaccination campaign to collect DNA samples of Osama Bin Laden before Operation Neptune Spear.

Pakistani Govt is building its every attempt to create Pakistan totally free of Polio. Now, the government has requested Imam-e-Kaaba, Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, to be an aspect of Polio campaign in Pakistan.

Soon, Imam-e-Kaaba will visit the Pakistan. Here, he would address the people to make them understand that polio vaccination is not against the principles of Islam.

The government has taken this decision as the people of this country are more delicate towards religious beliefs. Religious leaders have strong management over ideas of people.

Pakistan is attempting to accomplish polio free position for decades. The greatest barrier is the misbeliefs of people about polio vaccination. People that belong to less designed place do not get their kids vaccinated against polio because they are misguided about the vaccination. They have ideas that polio vaccination is Haram. It could harm the factor of Jihad, existing in heart of their child.

A few times ago, government made the decision to include police in polio vaccination strategy due to attacks on polio employees.
