Pakistan won the T20 home series
Pakistan won the series against Zimbabwe by 2-0. The event of international cricket’s recur to Pakistan was made cheerful by the ground and crowd as in the second T20 match Pakistan snatched a nail biter and tore down Zimbabwe’s challenging 176 for 3. Pakistan bowlers conceded too many runs and had to perform very well, to ensure the part, playing at homeground after six years, won by 2 wickets.
The jam-packed house was fully once again entertained by the opener Mukhtar, who made 62 off 45 balls. His huge boundaries were mind-boggling against a bowling attack which lacked a skilled captain and a strong guider and attacker but Mukhtar Ahmed did what he had to do. In the middle Pakistan lost the way and Zimbabwe was going close to the match but then Umar Akmal played a sensible innings and once again in the succession of a maximum got out in a very critical time.
The match was stuck but then Bilawal Bhatti comes in and takes the responsibility. He hits Six on the first ball of the last over and then four on the third last over. This way Pakistan won the series with two balls to spare. it wasn’t a convincing win but Pakistan team somehow manages to lift the trophy in front of 27000 Pakistanis.
Mukhtar Ahmed was once again awarded man of the match award and Bilawal Bhatti got the most colourful innings award. Mukhtar said in the presentation ceremony “It was not a simple game. We all were under pressure. I’ve this style that it doesn’t feel I’m under pressure but I was really feeling it. You’ve to go after every single ball when there is a big target on the scoreboard.”
Captain Shahid Khan Afridi “I am glad that the matches went ably and well. I’m also proud and pleased of this Pakistani crowd that they came here and supported us. T20 matches are mostly not one sided. You can’t guess who’ll win. We’ve good talent and we just need to polish and harness them a bit. And we want to take a quality team to the ICC World T20’16. We didn’t bowl well for 2 overs and that probably cost us. Mukhtar Ahmed, again played well. The most important thing is I believe in my players. I believed in Bhatti and I knew our players will deliver.”
Imran Khan former cricketer and a politician also came to watch the match with his wife. Pervaiz khattak CM of the province KPK then in the end awarded the trophy and prize money to the champions, Pakistan.
For the fans and the teams, it was really a joyous moment, a chance to adore to play a match in their backyard. International cricket revived in Pakistan came to the stop in Lahore but it’s that Zimbabwe’s tour is ongoing, with a win for Pakistan in ODIs as well. We wish and hope a comprehensive victory for Pakistan in ODIs too. We also wish a peaceful and sound tour for Zimbabwe cricket team.
