Apple Keynote 2015: Everything You Need to Know

The 26th annual WWDC 15 took place at Moscone West in San Francisco where developers from all over the world gathered to attend the prestigious conference. Several new announcements were made about the improvements in Apple products and they were demonstrated in detail.

OS X :

Tim Cook, Apple CEO, introduced the developers to the event and the sessions that would follow after which he handed over the show to Craig Federighi.

The SVP announced the arrival of a new version of OS X named ‘El Captain’ and described its new features in detail. The new OS X includes gestures for quick actions, along with  Pinned Sites in Safari that keep the most visited sites available and updated. It also includes new features like Spotlight which has advanced search for news like weather, sports etc and Split View that allows users to work with apps side by side. The screen view has been enhanced and improved and multiple desktops can be created for efficient work.

OS X Overall performance has been upgraded so that everything is updated and faster than before. A core graphics technology called ‘Metal’ will also be introduced which will upgrade graphics and performance in games to present a better experience. This version of OS X will be available for download later this year.

iOS 9 Features :

Changing tracks, Craig introduced iOS 9 (mobile operating system) and revealed that it has been revolutionized completely from the foundations and will be available in July. iOS 9 will give faster access to apps and its integration with iPad is designed in newer ways. Siri has been updated with more information and can handle more tasks of the users as compared to before while the device syncs with the location or time to understand better which apps will be useful for the moment. This new version reaches out to even more search results and gives suggestions based on recent app activity. Safety measures have also been takes by the Apple company and they assured the audience that the searches will neither be associated with the Apple ID nor with third party apps.

Apple payApple Pay:

The new features of Apple Pay were described next by Jennifer Bailey, the Vice President of Internet Services. Discover, one of the major networks, will join Apple Pay in fall while a new reader is set to be launched by Square which will ease the payment processes by local businesses. Purchase from stores within the Pinterest app will also be enabled. Apple Pay will launch in the United Kingdom in July which means it will work with even more credit and debit cards. Apple users in the UK will enjoy the facility to pay for their fares of transportation using Apple Pay. With so many new features, the Passbook has been renamed to ‘Wallet’.

notesNOTE APP :

The Note app has also undergone humongous transformations for iOS 9. Check-lists, sketches and content from Safari can be directly added to Notes. Maps have been updated with directions for public transportations and more cities including information about restaurants, bars, shops etc.

newsNEWS :

A new app called “News’ was introduced by Susan Prescott, Vice President of Product Marketing. This new app includes news pertaining to the users interests and combines photo galleries, editorial layouts, animations and videos. Magazines can also be viewed on this app and top publishers are ready to make their content accessible through this app.

split viewSimilar to Split view, Slide over allows users to switch between apps and use them at the same time on the screen. Other apps like Health, HomeKit, CarPlay and Swift 2 have also been upgraded for better use.

 

watch OS 2

WatchOS 2:

The Watch Os 2, the newest addition to Apple gadgets, was introduced to the audience. It features photographs of iconic locations around the world, temperatures, locations, events and multiple screens. It can be used to make sketches and replies to email with its efficient design. Siri, Apple Pay and Maps are available in Watch Os 2 and glances from the news feed of different social media can be viewed on the watch face. This version will also be available till fall.

Apple Music has also been customized to bring artists and listeners together for an easier access to Music. Artists can post their music, photos and half-baked songs that their fans can listen to and give feedback. A 24/7 global radio station will be introduced and Apple will keep track of the user’s taste.

All the new features and apps have been designed to give the users a much more thrilling experience of Apple products.
