Pakistan Super League: All set to bowl

Well someone whispered in my ears ‘9th February’ …

I proclaim:

The ball is all set to clean bowl and the bat to sway high in the grounds of U.A.E once again in 2017 as Pakistan proudly announces its second edition of Pakistan Super League as PSL SEASON 2 sponsored by HBL bank.

After English Premiere League (EPL), Indian Premiere League (IPL) and Bangladesh Premiere League (BPL), Pakistan Super League is a new member in countries’ native leagues added in 2016. It’s something which is worth pride for Pakistan. It’s a source of pavement towards revival of International cricket back in Pakistan. No doubt last year’s PSL started with zealous cheers and enthusiasm and also ended with the same zest as Islamabad United proudly lifted the cup beyond everyone’s expectations by showing an exceptional sports against the overhauling Quetta Gladiators and validated the saying, “CRICKET IS UNPREDICTABLE.”

Amidst all this excitement and enthusiasm popularly, people are seen chanting lyrics of Ali Zafar’s song of psl..  Seeti bajegy (the whistle will blow)  Stage saje ga (ground will be set)  Taali bajay ga (clappings all around)  Ab khel jamay ga (let’s see who wins the game)

This song is really nice especially the lyrics which are just so morale boosting and full of exhilaration… and guess what the greatest news .. The final will be held in Lahore’s Ghaddafi Stadium as announced by PCB chariman Najam Sethi.. INSHAA ALLAH.. Now coming to the teams setting:

All in all there are 5 teams which represent 5 important cities of Pakistan:

Islamabad United again being lead by Misbah ul Haq with no changes as all players are available.. Big names for United team’s are Sharjeel Khan, Misbah ul Haq, Brad Haddin and Shane Watson in batting while Mohammad Sami, Badree, Mohammad Irfan and Sam billings in bowling.

Then comes Karachi Kings this time being led by Kumar Sangakara, Srilanka’s former skipper with few changes in the team squad. Big names in batting are Chris Gayle, Babar Azam, Ravi Bopara, Shoaib malik and the captain himself while in bowling the bowlers that can give a tough time are Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir and Kieron Pollard. Well Karachites this time the ‘BLACK THUNDER’ (KAALI AANDHI) is in your team Let’s see will he lighten his spark or again be tightened as was in previous league…

How can Peshawar Zalmi lag behind. This time it is being led by Darren Sammy, former West Indian captain after Shahid Afridi handed over the captaincy to him. There has been some changes in the team squad like due to un availability of Shakib ul Hasan they brought in Tilkaratne Dilshan, in place of Tamim Iqbal they brought Samit Patel while they also replaced Marlon Samuels with Alex Hales due to some injury. Big Batsmen names are Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Hafeez, Eoin Morgan and Darren Sammy while in bowlers there are Mohammad Asghar, Iftikhar Ali and Chris Jordan who can create menace for other teams.

Here comes Quetta Gladiators now once again being led by Sarfaraz Ahmed who is proving his mettle a lot in being a WISE captain. The team has done some changes replacing Mohammad Nabi for Rilee Rossouw due to unavailability , Carlos Brathwait for Nathan Mc callum and injured David Willey for Thisara Pareera. Big names in batting are Ahmed Shehzad, Kevin Petersen, Luke Wright, Asad Shafiq and Sarfaraz Ahmed while in balling Umer Gul, Nathan Mc cullum and Anwer Ali can give tough time to the opponent team.

And the last one.. beat some drums because here we present Lahore Qalandars. This team was the weakest one in the previous league and did not qualify for the play offs but now they have re structured themselves with a couple of changes. The captaincy has been shifted to New Zealand’s Brendon Mc Cullum from Azhar Ali replacing Dwayne Bravo for Jason Roy , Shaun Tait for Chris Green and Anton Devich for James Franklin. Big names in batting are Umar Akmal, Brendon Mccullum, Cameron Delport, Grant Elliot and Mohammad Rizwan while in bowling Yasir Shah, Sunil Naraine and Bilawal Bhatti can come up with a sterling bowling strategy.

The league is all set to broadcast a grand opening ceremony on 9th February intended to be hosted by Fahad Mustafa who is ready to leave for Dubai for rehearsals according to the sources.

After all this discussion it’s certain that the competition is so tough this time.. All teams stand in the same line but as everyone has some favourite team or the team one is supporting so I’m with the Defenders once again, the Islamabad United.. Also it doesn’t matter who wins this trophy because in the end it will remain in Pakistan.. With prayers for success of this league and best of luck to every team and their supporters it’s time to conclude with this: Let’s see who will be successful in throwing the ball in the court..

PS: Grab some popcorns, book your tickets or turn on the television and get ready as you are going on a thrilling journey of PSL this February..

Till then take care and don’t forget to mention which team you’re supporting this PSL 2017 …
